First of all I'd like to wish all our members a very happy and prosperous New Year.
It has been brought to my attention this morning that an application has been put to Lake Macquarie City council for a huge development to be built at 100 George Booth Drive Cameron Park. This development will include; Supermarket, 50 specialty shops, food court, Harrigan's Pub and Big W.
The application is DA No. DA/2207/2007 and is -lodged by the Roche Group. This is listed on Public notices Exhibitions and Tenders.
Objections need to be lodged by the 4th January 2008 (This Friday).
Your objection should be just based on economic impact caused by development. They have not assessed economic impact on locality yet. As you can imagine, this will have a huge impact on our West Wallsend Shopping Centre as well as Holmesville and Barnsley Shops.
What can we do about it?
ýÿ We need to work together.
ýÿ We need to collect any available information.
ýÿ We need to call for help from an experienced Chamber of Commerce for advice.
ýÿ We need to make a plan to promote What we have all ready have.
ýÿ We need to apply for funding to assist with our plan.
